Philip Malliet

CEO & President

With 30 years of success in leadership roles within a variety of industries, Phil joined Hayes as President and CEO in 2014. An innovative and creative international business leader, Phil is an agent of change. “Change is the new normal and those who proactively drive change will be the winners.”   Phil leads his teams with a proactive sense of urgency because he knows customers always have alternatives. He is a leader who encourages questioning the status quo, while requiring accountability to achieve operational efficiency, consistent financial performance, and profitable growth.   Throughout his career, Phil has proven the ability to attract and mentor highly productive teams. He has led them in the execution of aggressive, multi-faceted strategic initiatives to deliver the company mission. “Strategy deployment is the process that gives life to a strategic plan—it is the differentiator that separates a great company from the rest.”   Phil earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Marquette University and an MBA also from Marquette. He resides in Colgate, Wis., is married to wife Karen and has two children. Outside of Hayes,  he enjoys golfing with his wife—who regularly scores better than he does. To blow off steam, he looks forward to a good trail ride in the summer or winter and is excited to pilot one of the many Hayes equipped mountain bikes or snowmobiles in its demo fleet.

Darren Campbell

President - Bicycle business unit

Darren Campbell is President and part owner at Hayes Performance Systems. Starting there in 1997 as an engineering intern, Campbell is one of the original members of Hayes Bicycle Group, a manufacturer of Hayes disc brakes, Manitou suspensions, SUNringlé wheels, Reynolds Cycling wheels, ProTaper components, Answer apparel and Wheelsmith spokes. Campbell has held key roles in all aspects of the business through significant growth periods, strategic acquisitions and global startups. Today Hayes employs more than 200 people, worldwide, at five locations in the US, Europe, and Asia. A Wisconsin native, Campbell is an outdoorsman, sports enthusiast, husband and proud father of two. Campbell holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and an MBA from UW-Milwaukee. Campbell’s philanthropic activities include serving as Chairperson of the Board of Trustees for the WI Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as well as participating in various bicycle rides and runs for other local causes.

Jim Barthel

CFO

Jim brings over 30 years of financial, IT and overall management experience to the role of CFO at Hayes Performance Systems. After starting his career in public accounting where Jim focused on middle market clients in the manufacturing, retail, distribution, construction, and software industries as well performed IT audit activities, Jim moved into the private sector where he has led finance and IT teams in international, multi-location manufacturing organizations in the environmental monitoring, operable walls, precious metal brazing, healthcare, musical instrument, and papermaking equipment industries. His strong financial background includes expertise in treasury management, mergers & acquisitions (M&A), start-ups, acquisition integration, and revenue recognition. Jim passionately believes in empowering his Finance and IT teams to work cross functionally across the organization and actively challenge the status quo as well as using the various tools within the Hayes Business Systems toolbox to continually improve processes.

Jim earned his Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Accounting at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he was also a 4-year member of the nationally acclaimed UW Marching Band. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) as well as a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). In his free time, Jim spends time with his wife Kelly and their three children where he is actively involved in their competitive rock climbing and musical performance endeavors. He also enjoys golf, travel and spending time in northern Wisconsin as well as serving as the Treasurer of the Arrowhead HS Band Booster Organization and playing in the Hartland Community Band.

Todd Jernberg

Global Director of Operational Excellence

As a career professional in manufacturing, Todd has been involved with several Lean Transformations including (3) Greenfield Plant start-ups. His involvement in Lean and Six Sigma began in 1989 with his 3+ years of involvement with the Shingitsu Consulting Group of Osaka, Japan where he studied the Toyota Production System under (3) Sensei. His Operations, Quality, Engineering and Lean training continued at Briggs & Stratton along with his Green Belt Certification through Harley-Davidson. His product experience includes automotive, non-automotive, heavy fabrication, brakes, engines, outboard motors, airline ground support equipment, aluminum alloy wheels, automotive trim products and medical/surgical and implant products. His operations/consultant work experience includes union/non-union plants within the USA, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Switzerland, Taiwan, China, and Japan. His passion is his family (his wife Barbara and his daughter Jennifer) along with traveling, football, golf, and his enthusiasm for his John Deere utility tractor.

Kendrew Sua

General Manager, Taiwan & China

With more than 20 years of experience with Taiwanese/Chinese, Germany and U.S. multi-national companies, Kendrew held a variety of management positions within project management, sales and marketing, supply chain, and manufacturing.  Kendrew holds a bachelor’s degree from NTPU Taiwan and an MBA from UOW Australia. He was an advance data analyst and associate lecturer of marketing research and strategy prior to joining the private sector. He is also an APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), a Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and a Six Sigma Black Belt. In his operation management journey, he practices Lean and TPS, which he learned from Toyota Taiwan and Japan. Beyond Lean and TPS, he also incorporates TOC and demand-driven thinking into his management.  Additionally, Kendrew is a polyglot and can converse in seven languages. Weekends include riding his mountain bike to serene places where he meditates and practices tai chi. 

Tim Hake

Director of Human Resources

Tim Hake is the Director of Human Resources at Hayes Performance Systems. Tim has over 20 years of experience in Human Resources and experience with multi-state, multi country strategic HR experience in the United States and Canada. His expertise includes labor relations, compensation, recruitment, lean manufacturing, and more. As a leader at Hayes, Tim helps foster an environment where Hayes team members can be successful so they can see the impact they have in building the business, he also likes to help people get engaged outside their normal role.

Tim earned his bachelor's degree in Management & Business Communications at Concordia University-Wisconsin where he later obtained his Master of Business Administration in Human Resources Management as well. Outside of the office, Tim enjoys golfing and camping with his wife as well as spending time with their dog.

Timm Laszkiewicz

Director of Operations

Timm Laszkiewicz is the Director of Operations at Hayes Performance Systems. With over 20 years of manufacturing management experience, Timm brings deep knowledge of supply chain management and lean manufacturing to the team. He helps Hayes achieve business objectives and customer requirements by aligning people, processes, and systems.

Timm earned his Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) and Operations Management at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and more recently facilitated assembly cell re-design and process capability improvements. In prior roles, his focus on team engagement, one-piece flow, and dynamic control plans led to significant increases in productivity, lowered quality risk, and reduced customer PPM.

A dedicated leader, Timm has a passion for sharing technical skills and developing leaders. He values continually learning best practices to promote a culture of respect, integrity, and accountability. True to the Hayes culture and products, Timm is an avid motorcyclist and enjoys the great outdoors, hiking, and bowhunting.
